Hi singers -
I’d like you to be able to get the most out of PartPerfect so here are some tips when using the app.
- Know where the mic is located on your device. PartPerfect uses the Microphone on your phone for recording (not external mics or your headphones). Most phones have their primary mics on the bottom of the phone, so sing into that general area, with the device a couple of hand widths away from your face. PartPerfect has mic coaching now, and will let you know on screen if it’s too quiet and you need to get closer.
- Use the bluetooth sync recording to calibrate wireless headphones. I love my wireless headphones but they do have a little bit of lag (delay) in them. Because I’ve calibrated them using the Bluetooth Sync track in the Library and moved the Recording Sync Adjust in the Settings, my recordings now line up correctly with the learning tracks. If I switch headphones, I listen to it again - because the lag in every headphone type may be different.
- Share directly from the app. Now, you can share learning tracks, sheet music, sessions, and your pitch accuracy score from the app via airdrop, email, messages and just about any installed sharing platform.
- Use the “Play as Mono” switch. This is my favorite “secret” feature that I’ve never seen in another app. So, imagine your own part of the learning track is in the left channel, and when you push the balance slider over to the left, you only hear it in one ear. If you turn on Play as Mono in the Settings, you’ll get that isolated track in both ears! I love it.
- Keep the app updated. We’re in active development of PartPerfect, making improvements on a weekly basis. Just last week we published an improvements for full-screen sheet music display, and improved accuracy in pitch detection (thanks to community member Jenni for the latter fix).
What else is happening?
We were thrilled to support the BHS International Convention in St. Louis earlier this month - you may have seen us on the big Jumbotron or on the Livecast. Congratulations to all of the competitors, and wow, what an amazing performance from GQ. We’ll be doing the same for the SingUnited International convention in Columbus, OH in October. Hope you see us there!
Happy Singing!
