Weird pitch analysis on learning track

Pitch analysis is reporting learning track on a G♭ rather than the actual note, a B. I believe this should show this specific note -35 cents (flat)? To confirm, I do have the setting to the correct channel for my learning track (left), and same results regardless of tolerance setting.

Happy to email audio and/or screen recording if that helps

Hi Jenni, that’s an interesting one- possible that the channel is not completely isolated from the other parts in the learning track? If so it could be picking that up.

Nope, the part is definitely well isolated to the left.

I'm not sure if I can link to my screen recording, but I'll give it a try.

Thanks Jenni - that video helps a lot, I'm digging into this now. Just to check before I do, when you ran the pitch detection, did you select the left channel to analyse against? Thanks

I think I've figure out the problem thanks to the video.

The app's pitch detector briefly kept mistaking the track's note for a related lower note (a fifth below — evidently it's a known weakness of this kind of pitch detection, a bit like a guitar tuner reading the wrong string.

In those split-second moments, your correct note was being compared against the wrong reference note, so the app briefly misread the track.

I can fix this, and will be uploadng a patch shortly. Thanks again for the video - this will definitely be an improvement.

Yay!

One of the VERY strong leads in my chorus is trying the app and getting really frustrated with her pitch analysis results... I'm hoping this will help her!

This has hopefully been fixed, and the update should be live on the app store - thanks.

I think have the most current version, but still not fixed. I'm pretty sure it won't violate copyright if I send you this trimmed portion of my learning track so you can test with it. Let me know if that would be useful

New update is live and THIS time I think it's fixed. Much cleaner on Android and iOS. Turns out it was detecting a harmonic. That snippet of the learning track helped me test, and it came out correct for me on iOS and Android. Thanks Jenni.
